Lunchtime Quick Procedures:

Endermology &
Cellulite:
Everyone
is familiar with the appearance of cellulite: pockets of heavily
dimpled skin whose look has
been compared to that of cottage cheese.
However, not everyone is familiar with the exact nature of
cellulite, confusing it with the normal
build-up of fat. Cellulite, however, involves the distinct
development
of excess swelling of adipocytes (fat cells
located in the hypodermis) that results in poor localized
circulation. As a consequence, toxins
accumulate in the affected areas and degenerate the connective
tissue adjacent to th fat deposits,
resulting in the trademark dimpled look of cellulite.
Many of Dr Schmidt's patients, who have tried traditional
fat-burning exercises and diets, have reported
they do not work in eliminating cellulite.
They may reduce some of the accumulated deposits, but they
do nothing to ameliorate the loosened
connective fibers. Endermology treatments, however, offer a
solution for these heavy appearing areas.
Dr Schmidt also recommends many of his liposuction patients
to have endermology treatments post
operatively for smoother results.
Procedure:
Endermology is a technique developed
almost two decades ago in France, and which has gained
widespread popularity in the US and Europe
for its effective treatment of cellulite. What an endermology
treatment does is mobilize the underlying
connective tissue, triggering it to tighten and restore
smoothness to the skin. It also works to
reduce the toxins that have built up and further reduces water
retention in the treated area through
stimulating the lymphatic and venous systems. A Further benefit is
endermology's natural exfoliation of the
treated skin.
The treatment itself is a non-invasive procedure involving the use
of a hand-held massaging device that
applies suction and a gentle rolling action
to the treated areas. The procedure does not hurt, and many
of Dr Schmidt's patients have described it
as akin to a deep body massage. The whole treatment takes
approximately one half hour to administer.
In order to achieve full results, patients will undergo these
treatments in a series of around twenty
biweekly treatments. This treatment is very popular among Dr
Schmidt's patients just prior to summer as
an easy tone up prior to beach weather.
Recovery:
Dr Schmidt
patients have noticed a more relaxed feeling after each treatment;
like spending a day at
the Spa.
Typical Patient Profile:
The best candidate for
endermology is someone who is healthy and who has realistic
expectations for
both the treatment of their cellulite
and their resulting change in self confidence and esteem. |
