Surgery For Men:

       Blepharoplasty:
Eyelift
Men
have special concerns when it comes to plastic surgery; indeed,
their needs and goals are
usually far different from women's,
and there are noted physical differences in male skin thickness
and elasticity, facial structure, and
body structure that require special attention from the physician.
Currently, more and more men of all
ages and socioeconomic strata are using cosmetic surgery to
improve their looks, and Dr Schmidt
is more than pleased to offer his skills to this growing segment
of clientele.
Many men face the same sight in the mirror every morning: puffy,
sagging eyelids; bags under the eyes
from extensive fat deposits - in
general, eyes whose youthfulness has long drained away to be
replaced
by a noticeable look of increasing
fatigue and old age. Men's eyes can deteriorate in appearance just
as
much as women's, and the potential
damage to a man's self-image and self-confidence is no less
severe. For those facing this
problem, eyelifts and general eyelid surgery (know as
blepharoplasties)
can help.
Procedure:
An eyelift procedure involves the
removal of accumulated fat in the eyelids and the tightening of the
skin
that results in a younger, fresher
look to the eyes. However, an eyelift does not involve the
amelioration
of dark circles under the eyes,
crow's feet, or drooping eyebrows (other procedures, such a BOTOX
or a brow lift, are more appropriate
for these concerns). A Blepharoplasty is common, straightforward
procedure designed to improve the
look and youthfulness of the eyelids. there is some variance in the
exact operation depending on whether
it is the upper part, the lower part, or the whole eyelid which will
be worked on. Incisions are made
either in a fold in the upper lid (for upper eyelid surgery) or
beneath
the lower eyelashes (for lower eyelid
surgery). Then, maneuvering via the incision, the fat lining
attached
to the eyelid muscle is separated and
removed, and any drooping skin is tightened and trimmed.
Sutures are employed to close up any
incisions. Depending on the nature of your problems, actually
surgery can range for one to three
hours. |

Recovery:
Recovery time after an eyelift varies from one to a few weeks. Ice
packs and medication are
recommended for the first days
of recovery to deal with potential aches, swelling, and bruising
around
the eyes. Swelling should
dissolve in a week or two along with any bruising or related
discoloration.
Potential blurriness, increased
dryness of the eyes, and sensitivity to light can be alleviated
through
eye-drops and sunglasses. In a
few weeks, the surgery's results will reveal themselves, and your
eyes
will appear firmer, more awake,
more relaxed and much younger than they were before surgery.
Typical Patient Profile:
The
typical male candidate for eyelift surgery is someone in his late
30s to late 50s who would like to
improve the appearance of their
eyes and whose eyelid skin remains elastic enough to adjust quickly
and positively to a
blepharoplasty procedure. It is important, of course, to have a
healthy frame of mind
when pursing eyelift surgery,
and each candidate must have realistic expectations about what it
can do
to improve your looks.
