Surgery For Men:

Rhinoplasty-Nasal
Reconstruction:
Men have special concerns when it comes
to plastic surgery; indeed, their needs and goals are
usually far different from
women's, and there are noted physical differences in male skin
thickness
and elasticity, facial
structure, and body structure that require special attention from
the physician.
Currently, more and more men of
all ages and socioeconomic strata are using cosmetic surgery to
improve their looks, and Dr
Schmidt is more than pleased to offer his skills to this growing
segment
of clientele.
Before Surgery
After Surgery
One of the procedures gaining in popularity among men is
rhinoplasty; nasal reconstruction. The nose
one of the single most
important components to a person's face; its intrinsic size, shape,
and condition heavily factor
into how a person is received by others and social interaction
between
individuals. Rhinoplasty is an
option for people who wish to alter the appearance of their nose,
but
who have down to earth
expectations of what such a change will bring. Dr Schmidt performs a
variety
of rhinoplasty procedures, from
decreasing the size of one's nose to fixing a deviated septum to
re-angling the nose's slope. It
is only a matter of determining what the nature of the change the
patient
desires.
Procedure:
A rhinoplasty procedure is focused on re-sculpting the
nose through the relocation or removal of its
underlying bone and cartilage structure. To do this, Dr
Schmidt first makes incisions either on the
inside of the nostrils or across the thin band of skin
between the nostrils. Next, the skin of the nose is
carefully elevated to allow access to the layers of
cartilage and bone. Depending on the exact reshaping
to be performed, Dr Schmidt either adjusts or removes
some of the cartilage or the bone in order to form
the desired nasal contours. After the nose has been
reshaped, the skin is re-draped back over the newly
shaped nose and the incisions closed. |

Recovery:
Total recovery time after a rhinoplasty
procedure, as usual, varies from patient to patient. In general,
however, it is
common to expect at least a month of recovery time, with bulk of serious
convalescence
occurring within the first week after surgery. Suring the first
week, the patient will experience aches,
fatigue, bruising, discoloration, and
will need rest and respite from any arduous activities. By the end of
the first
week, Dr Schmidt will remove any nasal packing, stitches, and dressings, and the
typical patient
will be able to return to work. The remaining weeks will witness
the patient being slowly able to resume
more vigorous activities, such as
exercise, and the gradual fading away of most signs of the operation.
Typical Patient Profile:
Rhinoplasties are already one of the most popular
of all plastic surgery procedures that Dr Schmidt
performs, and the are range of
typical patients ranges from people in their mid to late teens to far into
middle age. The most important aspect regarding this surgery is that it only be
performed on those whose
nose has fully grown and who is capable of handling the
potentially dramatic positive effects of surgery.
Dr Schmidt will be more than
glad to discuss this operation and any concerns you may have on whether
it is
the right procedure for you.
