Body Procedures:

Liposuction:
You've tried everything
under the sun; exercise, dieting, creams, more exercise, specialized
fad diets,
and still more exercise, but nothing
seems to work. The fat will not disappear, especially from certain
localized pockets in your abdomen,
buttocks, hips, thighs, ankles and face. Even if your body as a
whole has slimmed through your new
eating and exercise regimens, these areas appear invulnerable
to any and all fat loss techniques.
That's where Dr Schmidt and liposuction may help.
Procedure:
Liposuction, the most popular
cosmetic procedure in the country, is designed to remove those
pockets
of fat that affect specialized areas
of the body. It is not a treatment for general obesity , or for the
removal of cellulite. The total
amount of fat removed by Dr Schmidt varies according to the location
of
the targeted fat cells, but in total
do not usually exceed five pounds. The removal of these fat cells,
however, has an effect much greater
than the simple loss of weight.
The
basic procedure involves the use of a surgical tool called a
cannula. A cannula is essentially a
metal tube attached to a vacuum pump system
or a syringe set-up that is used by Dr Schmidt to
access and remove sub-dermal fat deposits.
Dr Schmidt inserts the cannula into the fat layers under
the skin through a series of small
incisions, and gently vacuums out the fat cells using the pressure
from the vacuum pump and gentle back and
forth motions.

The actual operation may
last as little as half an hour for certain minor procedures, or up
to a few
hours for more complicated ones. Local anesthesia is
the preferred form of comfort control; however,
sedative anesthesia is also an option. Dr Schmidt
usually performs liposuction on an outpatient basis.
Post-op convalescence for liposuction depends on the
complexity and length of the procedure, as well
as factors like the patient's age and the elasticity of
their skin. Most patients are able to return to work
or perform general daily activities within a few days
time; however, exercise routines and more strenuous
activity must be avoided for a few weeks
afterwards.
