Lunchtime Quick Procedures:

Lip Augmentation:
Patients
desire fuller more sensuous lips. Our lips thin and grow longer with
age. They also demonstrate
less fullness and projection when viewed fro the
front and the side. It is important when enhancing the lip
to follow the curves of the lip to get a natural
result. The silhouette of the lip as well as the "v" shaped
area to the center upper lip, called the Cupid's
Bow, can be enhanced. This enhancement may also
increase the red or vermillion of the lip as well
as minimize wrinkles. This enhancement has been called
the Paris Lip.

Before Enhancement
After Enhancement
Like most cosmetic procedures, this may be accomplished by many
techniques. A thorough con-
sultation with Dr Schmidt can determine the best
treatment for your case. There are a number of
treatment options for you from temporary to
permanent and injectable to surgical. Dr Schmidt will be
happy to discuss these different options with you
and to help you decide which is the best option for
you.
Fillers for the
Lip:
There are several substances that may be injected
into the lips. The simplest is collagen, however
collagen may only last a few weeks to months in
the lips. Another is Restylane, although these clear
gels are used like collagen they may last up to
three or four times longer. There are other human
collagen fillers that can be injected but they do
not seem to last much longer than collagen. Silicone
can be injected much the same as collagen and is
a permanent filler. Silicone however can only be
used in small amounts.
Minor Surgical Procedures:
Gortex can be used for
permanent lip enhancement. This is a teflon like material. Dr
Schmidt inserts
these tubes of inert material through very small
incisions placed in the corners of the mouth. Although
Gortex is not seen it may be felt when pressing
on the lips. Fat is another option. This is also discussed
under lipo-transfer. Local anesthesia is
injected, then fat is aspirated through a small incision. The fat
harvested is then re-injected into the lip for a
semi-permanent increase in lip size. |
